Barika Hél (Bananaquit) means yellow belly in Papiamentu and is the most popular bird in the Dutch Caribbean. The bird also gets called Sugar thief or Suikerdiefje in Dutch from the fact that it particularly likes to empty sugar bowls on breakfast and coffee tables. Under natural conditions, it extracts nectar from flowers or cactus fruit.
